This probably sounds very dumb but basically think double jumping in a Sonic game is dumb and doesn’t fit right, at least not for the modern games. With the world Sega set up, you can believe that a blue hedgehog can move faster than the speed of sound, manage to aim himself and home in on enemies (homing attack), and use special tech in some shoes to do things like dash at light-speed along a trail of rings, but suspension of disbelief only goes so far, and it’s hard to suspend said disbelief when that speedy blue hedgehog is defying all laws of physics, so he can jump a second time, in midair. He’s either standing still, or he’s moving at top speed, with very little in between, and that’s without boosting too.Īnd then double jumping, assuming it was in Forces, has never felt right in a Sonic game. He doesn’t feel like he has any acceleration when he moves. Extremely stiff, borderline completely on-rails, drifting is gone, and in both 3D and 2D sections, he feels very stop and start. But yeah, animations are terrible, and the way Sonic controls in Forces doesn’t help with the issues either. Have to agree here, apart from the both models are fine part, Forces Modern Sonic looks too much like Classic and it just doesn’t feel right.
